What is MMO’s position and reational for saying to add the product when the vehicle manufactures say NOT to add ANY additives to gas or oil?

That’s a tough question.  It really depends on the context.  If the reason is related to emissions, MMO is ok to use.  If the reason they say not to is because of fuel system plastics or sensitive components, I would suggest following the manufacturer’s advice.  If the engine is under a guarantee or warranty, I would follow the manufacturer’s advice as well.  I hope this answers your question.

Typically manufacturer’s tell you to avoid all additives.  Unless of course they are the ones selling them.

Thanks for the info:

Well that leads to more questions than answers, the manufactures simply states in the Vehicle Operators Manual, “DO NOT”, it does not specify why.

With that being said how is the consumer to know what or who to belive.

I have been an MMO user you the past 40+ years without any issues however with all the changing technologies and materials the consumer is at the mercy of the best advitiser.

Yes the vehicle is new, so based on your comments I need to follow thevehicle manufactures warning since MMO has not been validated to work with all the new technologies that may be in use at this tiem and going forward.

How “new” is the vehicle?  Being a “new” vehicle, it’s unlikely that you’d need MMO in the crankcase, provided you keep up with your oil changes, and use good quality oil…

Now, fuel on the other hand, I’d say experiment with it.....I know MMO suggests 4 oz. per 10 gallons of fuel....perhaps experiment with 1 oz. per 4 gallons, 2 oz. per 10 gallons and see if you notice any adverse affects.

Here’s my issue too, if say a warranty issue occurs, the dealer/manufacturer is uinlikely to even notice the additive in the tank, since it would be so diluted....then again, they may be wondering why your injectors/fuel tank/filter look so sparkly clean I guess? smile lol

I would add MMO to the fuel but not the crankcase until the warranty period is up. As long as we are forced to use ethanol laced fuel, I will add MMO to it. Run a good quality full synthetic oil and you shouldn’t need any additives in the crankcase.
