I been trying all kind of products to stop the noisy lifters on my 03 lightning,a friend toll me about the MMO I’m about to try MMO to see if works, it’s my last shot before I open the engine.About how many oils change with MMO would it take to quite those noisy lifters I’m tire of that noise specially on the mornings, my lightning have 83000 miles on it.Any advice or tip will help and thank you for your time.

depends on the noise.

Is the noise only at “cold start” or is it constant?

If it’s only at cold start, it could be the oil may be too thick and isn’t traveling quick enough, so the “noise” you are hearing until warm up is metal:metal contact, until the oil gets to where it needs to go.

Other instances, I’ve heard of some oil filters simply being “noisier” than others....lol.  I had some noisy orange FRAMs, changed them out with Champ Labs “SuperTech” filter, and the noise went away....

On another vehicle, ran 5-30 dino oil, always had a noise on cold start.....so I added Seafoam (before I was educated of MMO and it’s benefits) to the crankcase per directions, and the next morning (cold start) - no noise on startup smile

Some speculation:
Either it cleaned up something and got rid of the noise.

Other speculation @ BITOG forums, the Seafoam “thinned out” my oil, so it got to where it needed to be quicker..

if you have been adding lucas and the noise has not stopped it might not. maybe mmo will clean it up..
oh and you dont need to “stabilize” a good oil! lol lucas just thickens the oil. i would not add it to any good oil

A good quality group 4 synthetic oil like Royal Purple doesn’t need any additives at all. Run a regular dino oil with MMO to clean it out and then go back to Royal Purple with no additives.

Definitely agree with that.  I don’t think I’d ever recommend adding anything to synthetics.....even if they are “compatible” I generally only like using additives as a “clean up” phase.....and then let the good synthetic finish up the rest and keep it clean smile

NO NO NO NO NO NO. NEVER RUN OUT OF GRADE OIL. The engineers know what they are doing.

AND NEVER EVER EVER USE LUCAS OIL STABILIZER. There were tests done on it a long time ago and all it does is cause your great engine oil (Mobil 1 or Royal Purple) to foam up. Terrible, terrible stuff. You might as well pour water into the crankcase.

yea, I dont know about Lucas Oil “Stabilizer” - though I like playing with their displays at advance when I stop in.....lol.  Funny how if you spin that little handle REALLLLLY fast, you will start to see bubbles/foam on the Lucas side raspberry

On a side note:
perhaps Marvel could create a similar display.....?  Pretty pweeeze? smile

has it been noisy like this since you got the vehicle?

sounds like you may be “out of luck” with any mechanic-in-a-bottle.......may consider looking for other lightning “enthusiastic” forums around the web, and see if anyone else has experienced similar problems.....
