I HAVE A 2006 DODGE RAM 1500, PICK-UP TRUCK.

IT HAS APPROX. 48,000 MILES ON IT, AND I AM ENCOUNTERING AN UNUSUAL VIBRATION, WHEN I TURN ON THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR AIR-CONDITIONING OR HEAT, AT THE HIGHEST SETTING.

THE MOTOR OPERATES NORMALLY WHEN ON THE LOWER SETTINGS, HOWEVER, WHEN I TURN IT TO THE HIGHEST SETTING, IT VIBRATES THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD.

PLEASE ADVISE, IS THIS A REPAIRABLE ISSUE, OR DOES THE MOTOR NEED TO BE REPLACED?

IF REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED, CAN I OBTAIN THE INSTRUCTIONS, AS TO HOW TO REPLACE MOTOR?

I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER.

RESPECTFULLY,

TONY VITALE RETIRED POLICE DETECTIVE/ # 246

You would get a lot more help in an automobile forum than on this forum but it sounds like your fan has gone out of balance for some reason. Could be something got sucked into it and wrapped around the blade or a piece of the blade may have broken off. Could be that the bearings are worn out also. It needs to be disassembled to find out. Good luck.

I wouldn’t be overly concerned, especially since it only occurs at the highest setting. As previously stated, it sounds like the fan is out of balance for some reason or another. I would post in a Dodge-specific automotive forum to see what the people there say. Every vehicle has its own quirks. At the very least, I would at least try to get a visual on the fan to make sure there isn’t anything obviously wrong with it.

Furthermore, I would find a good Haynes/Chilton manual for your Dodge truck. You can usually find them for cheap used (http://www.abebooks.com or http://www.amazon.com). They will serve you well and I promise you will more than get your money’s worth out of them.

Best of luck,
Techniker
