I’m in the market for a new car which engine touts Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) to improve mileage, horsepower, etc.  Will MMO be compatible with this type of technology?  I don’t see why not.

I can’t imagine MMO not being able to be used in that system. What kind of car is it?

Oh yeah! SWEET car they just are arriving at the dealerships. I test drove one myself...Hyundai is blowing everyone away with their quality. You’d swear that thing had a 6-cly in it! Since this is a higher compression engine the mystery oil should be great for it...I have heard that the GDI’s are a little more succeptible to carbon build up but don’t know for sure. Ever since they got it together (2001) they have been producing high quality cars that last and are problem free. That one is made in Alabama.

I have a 2006 Elantra and a 2009 Sonata of my own and use Marvels in both.

If GDIs are susceptible to carbon build-up, then I guess MMO will do the trick.  By the way, will using lower dosage rates in your gas help at all with any car system?  I’ve noticed that my civic runs OK if I add 2 oz per 10 gallons vs. the 4 oz.

Since I use it as a “preventative” I do not know the answer to that, as my two cars run fine with or without it… I run at the recommended amount because it “seems” logical. People who swear by its preventative abilities that I know generally follow the 4 oz/10 gal rule of thumb.

Well, I got the car.  Will MMO cause any issues if used regularly at every gas fill up on this direct injection technology?

I know this is way off topic, but just wondering how you like the 2011 Sonata w/ the GDI?

After 6,000 miles…

Pros:
I have driven other vehicles in the same category and this Sonata surpasses all of them in the quality:price ratio. I have owned a previous 2000 Sonata and the 2011 is definitely a jaw-dropper for me. I have been asked “What is it? I want to see!” and it has definitely been a head-turner. Everybody wants one now. I like everything about it—color, body style, technology, bluetooth, USB/iPod, dual-climate control, upgraded audio system, sunroof, leather everything, heated seats (front/back), the powertrain, the mileage, the quality of drive, and the cubic feet (OMG). This is the first car that I have ever cared enough to keep it clean, detailed and waxed!
Cons:
Nothing at this point, but if I do have to nit-pick, it would be three things. #1 Audio EQ: There are only 3 profiles available. I wish the audio system had an actual sound EQ to adjust to personal liking. Second, it would be the instrument illumination control --- just trying to find a good sweet spot to have good visibility to lighting combination. Third would be the tires (17” Kumhos). With so much going for the car, Hyundai could have invested another $150 for a better quality tire (ie, Michelin). Don’t get me wrong—Kumhos are pretty good, give good handle and feel and are relatively quiet, but I personally think a Michelin could potentially give the car an upgrade ride.
Overall Review:
Overall, GREAT car. My wife, friends and family are very much impressed. I have had it for 3 months now and have taken it on short and long drives and it is a very comfortable car. With Hyundai, you do get a good quality value package for the price—so you can’t go wrong. Even my boss was impressed. The Sonata raises up the bar everywhere I go and people do notice. It looks and drives like a $35K-plus vehicle. Once in a while I will run across auto reviews by 3rd party reports and this Sonata is being noticed by the reviewers (ie, Consumer Reports, Motor Trend, USA Today, Forbes, etc.) with overall positive notes, sending warning signals to the already established manufacturers. This car is winning awards and is placing in top ten lists in overall quality, reliability and safety. Hyundai has been on the right track these past years and I would not be surprised if they become the Gold Standard for all to follow within the next 5 years.

Cool glad to hear.

I have the 2009 and really think they did about everything right with the 2011. Very tempting to contemplate a trade in but the dealers had alot of customers with 2009s and 2010s that had the same idea so they kind of have a surplus of these and are not giving much over blue book if that for them.

Hope their recent success doesn’t go to their heads and they lose that quality for the dollar advantage they hold.
