I’m a huge fan of MMO. I just found this forum and now I have a specific question:

My 2002 Silverado 2500 HD pickup (4wd) has a very distinctive whine (two, actually). One of them (I think) is the fuel pump. I’m gonna run some of the MMO through the fuel system and see if that fixes that.

But the other is somehow transmission related. When the truck is in gear, even sitting still, there is a distinctive whine that increases and decreases with engine speed. The reason I think it’s transmission related is that if I take the truck out of gear, the whine stops. When I put it in gear, the whine starts up again.

What are the possible causes and what are my possible solutions with this stuff? I’m thinking I’d put some in with the transmission oil, some in the differential and some in the transfer case.

But I’d like to hear what folks here think the issues might be and what the correct “treatment” might be…

Thanks in advance!

Marvel Mystery Oil can be used in the transmission of your 2002 Silverado to try and eliminate the whine.  Add 1-pint of Marvel Mystery Oil to the transmission making sure you do not overfill the transmission.  If necessary, drain out a pint of transmission fluid before adding the Marvel Mystery Oil.

We do not recommend adding Marvel Mystery Oil differential since the viscosity of differential oil is much higher than either motor oil or transmission fluid.  Adding Marvel Myster Oil will decrease the viscosity of the differntial oil which could be detremental.  Also, adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the transfer case is not necessary.  If Marvel is going to help reduce or stop the whine, adding Marvel Mystery Oil to the transmission is sufficient.
